Dr. Anne Grimsley Cook

Dr. Anne Grimsley Cook grew up in Beaufort, SC where her family still resides.  She attended Sewanee (University of the South), a small liberal arts college in Tennessee.  She graduated summa cum laude in 1993 with a major in theology and minor in biology. She graduated summa cum laude from veterinary school at the University of Georgia in 1997. After completing an internship at Kansas State University, she then went to Virginia Tech where she completed an equine residency and masters program in 2001.  She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Greensboro, NC.  She is a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist (

Dr. Cook has worked at Animal Eye Care since 2006, and purchased the practice in 2010. Dr. Cook is an avid horse lover, but also enjoys yoga, golf, running, biking, swimming and other outdoor activities.  She also competes in dog agility with her Boykin Spaniel, Hunley. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Dr. Wesley Cook (a small animal surgeon), her son and her three dogs.

Dr. Kristin Fischer

Dr. Kristin Fischer was born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN which is where the Atomic Bomb was developed and where the Oak Ridge Boys got their name.  She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2002 with a degree in Animal Science and the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.  She completed a rotating general internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, CO and then stayed on for one year as a staff emergency doctor.  She then moved back to Tennessee.  She is board certified in veterinary ophthalmology and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (  Dr. Fischer has practiced as a full time ophthalmologist since 2012 in Columbia, SC until joining the Animal Eye Care team in March 2016.
Dr. Fischer enjoys spending time with her family including her wonderful husband Scott and two small children.  In her free time, she loves spending time on the water, riding horses, snowboarding and SEC football.

Heidi White – Veterinary Technician, Office Manager

Heidi is originally from Chapel Hill, NC though lived most of her adult life in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. She graduated from St. Petersburg College in 1984 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been with Animal Eye Care since 1997.  She loves golf, football and any outdoor activities. She also loves spending time with her husband, children and granddaughter. She has two dogs and two cats.

Sarah Hankins – Veterinary Technician

Sarah grew up in Connecticut riding horses and raising wildlife for a local nature center. After high school, she left home to work on a Quarter Horse and beef cattle ranch in eastern Colorado. Marriage and children eventually moved her to Las Vegas, NV, where she pursued her veterinary technician career with a busy equine hospital for seven years. A final move brought her family to the east coast in search of greener pastures and she is here to stay! She is currently completing her veterinary technician degree through Purdue University. Sarah’s free time involves working with her two girls enjoying 4H, Girl Scouts and rabbit programs. She also has a growing farm of horses, chickens, ducks, bunnies and a cat.

Lori Hopper – Veterinary Technician

Lori is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she studied Veterinary Technology at Argosy University.  A new opportunity moved her to San Diego, California where she worked in a surgical specialty hospital for 6 years.  She then relocated to Charleston in 2010 where she continued working in surgery for 4 years.  She then decided to join the Animal Eye Care team in June 2014 and hasn’t looked back.  Lori spends her free time with her husband and son exploring Charleston and never passes up the opportunity to see live music.  She also loves spending time with her 2 Labradors, Chihuahua and 3 cats.

Judy Gerringer – Patient Care Coordinator

Judy has been the patient care coordinator for Animal Eye Care since 1997.  She is the first face you see when you come in and usually the voice you hear on the phone.  She is very active in her church and does alot of volunteer work with senior citizens.  She loves talking with all the clients and their pets!  Judy has two children and a granddaughter.
